NEWS FROM AROUND THE STATE

  • The spring workshop will be joint conference/workshop with Outreach Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and WYRID. April 21-23, 2006 in Casper. Look for more information coming soon on the WYRID website www.wyrid.org or on the listserve.
  • Casper College Gertrude Krampert Theatre productions are being interpreted: "Dead Man Walking" May 5, 6, 9-13 (interpreted date yet to be determined). Call 307-268-2110 or 1-800-442-2963 for more information.
    • Spring WY-HI will be held on Friday, April 28th in Thermopolis. Events will begin in the morning at the Holiday Inn. There will be a variety of different activities which includes the following:
      *A presentation by Gallaudet University recruiter, Brian Sipek
      *Allison Bievers, audiologist at the Rocky Mountain Cochlear Implant Center will do a presentation for parents and services providers about cochlear implants.
      *There will be a literacy activity for pre-school and early elementary children conducted by Susan Fischer.
      *Another teacher of the deaf will provide a literacy activity for older elementary students.
      After lunch everyone will go swimming at the hot springs.
