Hello, WYRID members! February 2005 Spring Conference - WYRID and the Wyoming Department of Education Outreach Services for the Deaf and hard of hearing have joined together to hold a spring conference. Frances Beaurivage CI/CT from Boys Town will present "Understanding The EIPA & Interpreting in the Educational Environments" This workshop will focus on topics involving developing a Professional Development Plan to assist in implementing strategies for preparing to take the EIPA. Other topics will include the role of fingerspelling in literacy development for children who are deaf and the approach needed to interpret for children verses adults with established language bases. This conference will be held in Casper at the Wyoming Services for the Deaf building on April 16th and 17th. Due to the joint effort of WYRID and the Outreach Services, we are able to offer this workshop for only $15 per person. For more details, please see the conference flyer in this newsletter. Thank you, Janine Cole and the Wyoming Department of Education Outreach Services! Children With Hearing Loss Conference - Also in Casper April 14th and 15th is the Children with Hearing Loss conference. We encourage all of you who can to attend both of these conferences. For your convenience, hotel rooms are reserved at the Holiday Inn on the River for both events. It is a rare opportunity to attend four days of training related to interpreting and/or deafness in Wyoming. Please take advantage of this opportunity. RID Region IV News - The numbers are in and the Region IV conference held in Oklahoma City this past year broke several records with its success. The conference made a nice profit. Five thousand dollars of this money will be used as seed money for the 2006 Region IV conference. Small or rural states that have never hosted a conference before are being asked to join together and do so. Wyoming may habe an opportunity to be involved in this in the future. RID News - The 2005 National Registry of Intrepreters for the Deaf conference willd be held in San Antonio, Texas, July 10-14. Several of us from Wyoming are planning to attend. Come and join us. It will be an awesome, inspiring experience and a lot of fun.
